Lessons & Boarding

We work from the ground up with your horsemanship skills.

Jean is a certified trainer in the Franklin Method Equestrian Pelvis Training and teachesthe biomechanics of the horse and rider. Knowing the Anatomy of your pelvis, Finding your seat bones and balance through your seat bones. What is the function of your seat bones?

MOVEMENT.
FORCE ABSORPTION- to be the best load to carry, we must be responsible for the horse and improve our own absorption – increase awareness becoming aware of your body.

PROPRIOCEPTION- coordinating aids clearly, correctly becoming aware of your own body.

POSTURE AND ALIGNMENT- ever noticed how you’re seated to one side ? Normally seated to the left resulting in the left leg longer than the right. Unbalancing for you and your horse. Notice then how your horse prefers to go to the left rather than the right.

One shoulder lower than the other shoulder. One shoulder is more open than the other or stiffer.

Your Pecs are tight and short bringing one shoulder more forward.

Also as a certified trainer in the Franklin Method using specific equipment and balls to enhance proprioception, improves posture, opens up your pelvis, helps stay seated in your seat bones.

Your body’s ability to sense movement, action and reaction is present in every muscle you have through your nervous system.

It’s important for us as riders to warm up before mounting. Most people sit at a desk all day becoming stiff and tight. Through the Franklin Method we go through stretching before mounting.

Did you know a horse can hear a human’s heart beat 4 feet away. In the wild, horses  will synchronize their heartbeats to the other horses in the herd in  order to sense danger more quickly.

Come hang out with a horse, learn how to groom, lead a horse, we will  educate you on tack and how to saddle and bridle a horse.

Fun Facts

Did you know a horse can hear a human’s heart beat 4 feet away. This  incredible gift comes from their sensitive hearing. In the wild. horses  will synchronize their heartbeats to the other horses in the herd in  order to sense danger more quickly, and recent studies have shown that  they use those tactics in domesticated life as well.

Horses become the most popular animal to use in animal  therapy because they give immediate feedback to the handler or rider’s actions. Horses have the ability to mirror the feelings of the handler or rider.

Owning several horses, training and selling, at the age of 18 years, Jean became a familiar face at the Menai Bridge Auctions in North Wales with the local farmers.
Old tradition was to hand a silver coin to the farmer when buying a pony or horse.
Good luck, hate to say it, was to spit on it too.

Our Philosophy

Horses do want us to be a  partner with them and we teach you how; not through negative training  but positive training. We teach you how to observe what your horse is  telling you ( they do want to connect and communicate with us ).
We need  to understand, listen and learn how. It’s so rewarding when horses and  humans start to understand, watching the horse lick and chew and  releasing those endorphins. What a release they feel. It’s known that  horses  develop  ulcers through stress, we aim to take that away.

When your horse says no to you there are a number of reasons why, however, fear is  the main reason. The horse will be stiff in his body and may experience diarrhea. He will not be willing to bend side to side and may hold his head head up in the air and is ready to be that flight animal. There are so many signs that we can miss such as the eyes not blinking or soft nostril creases. Body language is key. We encourage owners to participate in all the training we do with your horse.
